GIANT E-Stickers: Teens for the Planet

Using young people's designs, writing, and input, we created AI-generated avatars inspired by their ideas. With The GIANT Remix app, youth learned AI literacy fundamentals: AI can make mistakes, we can give feedback to AI, and a human idea is always behind an AI output. Each sticker features an original design by teens at a Public School in Maryland.

More than 65 teens at a Public School in Maryland responded to the mission: “Raise Awareness for an Environmental Problem YOU Care About!”

Participants designed a sticker to inspire change for a healthier planet, highlighted an environmental problem that is worth raising awareness for, and shared about themselves and their own connection to the cause. The GIANT team of designers and educators also transformed their submissions into a community lookbook. Each submission has its own spread featuring the participant’s design and writings.

  • Featuring 65 original sticker designs by teens at a Public School in Maryland

  • Plus, one lookbook showcasing 65 designs, where you can meet the teen designers and learn what environmental issues they care about

In addition, using young people's designs, writing, and input, we created AI-generated avatars inspired by their ideas. With The GIANT Remix app, youth learned AI literacy fundamentals: AI can make mistakes, we can give feedback to AI, and a human idea is always behind an AI output. The avatars can be explored digitally above.

We are extremely honored to partner with the Connecticut State Library to bring Remix the Future: By and For Youth to the community in Maryland. We want to thank their librarians and staff for their wonderful partnership.

Remix the Future is a nationwide civic engagement and community-building program for public and school libraries that invites young people to raise awareness about causes identified by youth, for youth. The GIANT Room team publishes young people's ideas and stories as stickers, keychain inserts, and lookbooks, giving libraries one-of-a-kind, youth-centered publications to add to their collections. Through these publications, we amplify young people's voices, raise awareness about the changes they want to see in the world around them, and foster connections among youth and their communities.

Remix the Future is made possible through funding from Young Futures' “Oops!...AI Did It Again” Challenge and the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, administered by the Connecticut State Library.
