More About This Publication
Something oh, so wonderful is happening in this community photo album! Our animal citizens are getting mixed and remixed into a deck of collectible trading cards that introduces us to the imaginary forest of Granby Woods, while encouraging us to reflect on the role we play in our own community: how do we contribute to our town or home? What values are important to us?
We’re deeply honored to partner with the Connecticut State Library and celebrate America 250 with the Connecticut community at the Granby Book Festival. We co-designed a Remix Station with Granby Public Library’s Children’s Librarian, Michele Kaminski, with the “Civics Mission: Dream Up An Animal Citizen For An Imaginary Forest”.
More than 55 participants responded to this Creative Mission, sketched and described their idea of an animal citizen for the imaginary forest of Granby Woods. The GIANT Room then “remixed” their ideas into a one-of-a-kind set, inviting all kids (and adults) to collect the polaroid trading cards and flip through the photo album to learn how each animal contributes to the forest community, what values are important to them, and what badge of honor they wear proudly. Participants are also encouraged to add their “Designer’s Autograph” on their animal’s spread directly in this photo album.
