DIY Snow globe and frost in a jar!

DESCRIPTION: Snow day, fun day! Go outside get inspiration from nature, enjoy snowball play make some snow angels, and then warm up and join us for an art and science workshop! We'll make our very own snow globe inspired by the magical winter wonderland in New York City. We’ll then conduct a science experiment to learn how frost forms all using materials from home.

Recommended for ages 4-8

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Shaini Hirawat graduated from Parsons School of Design with a BBA in Strategic Design & Management. She moved to San Francisco shortly after and started her own baking company called Whisk Me Away SF, where she specialized in made-to-order buttercream flower cakes. Shaini is a mom of 2 boys (a 3-year old and 4-month old). After having her first, she became deeply interested in early childhood education. Since then she has taught classes covering a wide range of topics including gardening, science classes and theme-based exploratory workshops.

MATERIAL NEEDED: Snow Globe Materials: 1 glass mason jar (air tight please!), 1 bottled or distilled water, white glitter, or any color you like, vegetable glycerin or baby oil or Elmers clear glue, hot glue (or permanent glue), mini figurines. Forming Frost Materials: 1 glass mason jar, crushed ice, salt, water, blue food color (optional)
