DESCRIPTION: Inspired by the work of fashion designer, Tracy Reese, we’ll dream, design, and make a unique piece of attire for a spacial occasion. This dress designed by Tracy Reese was worn by the First Lady, Michelle Obama, at the 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington. Who are you designing for and what’s the occasion?

WORKSHOP FORMAT: 1 hour live online via zoom

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Nathier Fernández is a multidisciplinary designer, researcher and artist, with a Master’s in Interactive Telecommunications [ITP] from NYU. As a designer, she creates rich visual landscapes that materialize in sets, experiences and interactive installations. Her current research focuses on the relationship between human and non-human interactions and what arises when emerging technologies are involved. She has an interest in living materials and possible intersections between biological and computational systems.

MATERIAL NEEDED: Fabric (or aluminum foil, plastic bags, linen, etc), sewing needles (or tape, pins, etc), scissors, markers

PRICE: $20/session OR $75 for 5 sessions (you’ll save $5/session with purchase of a package)
