Calling All Future Scientists, Engineers, and Innovators: Participate in the Orkin Insect 2151 Science Fair!
Participate in the Science Fair and win up to $100,000 tuition credits to be applied toward college funds!
What will the world look like in the year 2151? And how can the incredible world of insects inspire the solutions of tomorrow?
The Orkin Insect 2151 Science Fair invites high school students ages 14–18 (or equivalent students) to explore the fascinating world of insects and transform what they learn into a creative, real-world idea that could help shape the future. This contest is completely FREE.
Inspired by the incredible adaptations, systems, and designs found in nature, participants are challenged to imagine an insect-inspired innovation for the year 2151. From engineering solutions to environmental ideas, students have the opportunity to think like scientists, designers, and inventors as they create a project that brings their vision for the future to life.
The GIANT Room had the incredible opportunity to partner with Orkin to co-design this national science fair experience for high school students. During the design process, high school educators and students were invited to participate in co-design workshops, sharing their perspectives and helping shape a competition that truly reflects the interests, experiences, and needs of young innovators.
At The GIANT Room, we believe young people bring unique perspectives that can transform the way we imagine the future. When students are invited to the design table, they do more than provide feedback, they help create experiences that are more meaningful, engaging, and relevant to their communities.
Through partnerships like this, young people have the opportunity to connect with industry leaders, build prototypes, explore new ideas, and see themselves as creators of the world around them.
Participants in the Orkin Insect 2151 Science Fair will have the opportunity to win the following prizes:
1st Place: $100,000 scholarship to be applied toward college tuition credits
2nd Place: $40,000 scholarship to be applied toward college tuition credits
3rd Place: $20,000 scholarship to be applied toward college tuition credits
4 Honorable Mentions: $5,000 scholarship each to be applied toward college tuition credits
In addition, the 1st Place Winner will be invited to join Orkin in Washington, D.C. during the opening of a new visitor experience with the Orkin Insect Zoo at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History, which Orkin is proudly supporting. Additional details about this opportunity will be announced at a later date.
All participants who submit a complete entry will receive a certificate of participation in the Insect 2151 Science Fair and may be invited to participate in future related opportunities.
Founded in 1901, Orkin has more than 125 years of experience studying and protecting against pests, including insects, termites, and rodents. Through partnerships with organizations focused on science, education, and public health, Orkin continues to support a deeper understanding of the natural world. By learning from nature, we can better understand how living things adapt, solve problems, and inspire new ideas.
The Orkin Insect 2151 Science Fair gives students the chance to explore, create, and imagine what the future could look like. Whether you are fascinated by insects, passionate about science, or simply curious about solving problems in new ways, this is your opportunity to bring your ideas to life.
Participation is completely FREE. Start imagining the future today!
