The GIANT Room has partnered with Sesame Workshop to co-design creative family learning experiences about nature and extreme weather!
The GIANT Room, an innovation hub for children and their families, is happy to announce a partnership with Sesame Workshop to co-design new family learning experiences focused on nature and extreme weather. Families with children ages 4 to 6 years old are invited to apply to join us for three in-person creative co-design workshops at Sesame Workshop on the Upper West Side in New York City.
Families will receive a $25 gift card per session as an appreciation for their time.
During the sessions, families will engage in hands-on creative activities, share ideas, build prototypes, and provide feedback on how children and caregivers explore topics related to nature and extreme weather together. Participants will have the opportunity to collaborate with Sesame Workshop, Joan Ganz Cooney Center, and The GIANT Room’s researchers, educators, and designers to help shape meaningful learning experiences for families. To participate, at least one parent and one child ages 4 to 6 are required to join. Siblings who are 7 or 8 years old are also welcome to participate. Each session will be two hours long, and families are invited to join three sessions.
The GIANT Room believes the most engaging and effective learning experiences are the ones that are designed with families’ points of view in mind, and even better, those that are designed with children and caregivers involved in the design process. These co-design partnerships not only provide opportunities for families to meet and build ideas with real designers and researchers, but also make it possible to create resources that families everywhere can use to learn, connect, and have meaningful conversations together.
Named for the co-founder and visionary behind Sesame Street, the Joan Ganz Cooney Center is an independent research and innovation lab within Sesame Workshop that advances positive futures for kids in the digital world. They conduct research on emerging technologies and collaborate with technologists, digital media producers, and educators to put this research into action to support children’s learning and well-being. Joan Ganz Cooney Center also works directly with policy makers and investors to drive national conversations and decisions that help children thrive within the digital world.
