Clap an EMOJI (Coding with Microbits)

DESCRIPTION: Let us hear you clap your hands. Ever want to control something with claps? Join this workshop and learn how to clap and make an emoji appear. You'll code a microbit to react to your clap and show you a symbol you choose. Will it be an animation of hearts? or happy faces? up to you as you create the program to make your claps come alive. This workshop is a mix of beginner programming, creativity and storytelling. Materials: If you have microbit bring it! If you don't we'll code one online.

Recommended for ages 8-12

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Nathier is a multidisciplinary designer, researcher and artist, with a Master’s in Interactive Telecommunications [ITP] from NYU. As a designer, she creates rich visual landscapes that materialize in sets, experiences and interactive installations. Her current research focuses on the relationship between human and non-human interactions and what arises when emerging technologies are involved. She has an interest in living materials and possible intersections between biological and computational systems.
