GIANT and JGCC Calling on Families to Share Their Thoughts on AI!
The GIANT Room partners with Joan Ganz Cooney Center and Sesame Workshop to co-design AI tools and resources for families with families!
The GIANT Room, an innovation hub for children and their families, is excited to announce they will be partnering with Joan Ganz Cooney Center and Sesame Workshop to co-design AI tools and AI resources for families with families. Families with children ages 3 to 8 years old are invited to apply.
Participants will receive a $75 gift card for your participation in all three sessions.
Participation entails at least one child and one parent joining all three co-design sessions. The first session will be a one-hour in-person session at Sesame Workshop offices on Monday, August 11th, at a selected time that works best for your family. The other two co-design sessions are two-hours in duration, and will be held from 2-4pm on Tuesday, August 12th, and Wednesday, August 13th also at Sesame Workshop offices in New York City.
During these co-design sessions, parents and their children will access AI tools, AI resources, and media guides focused on building healthy digital habits, and they will provide feedback on these tools and resources. They will then collaborate with designers from Sesame Workshop and The GIANT Room to co-design new AI tools and resources that are helpful and good for families. This program is being funded by Google.org foundation and is completely free for families.
The GIANT Room believes that the most effective tools and resources for families are those co-designed with parents and their children, ensuring that families’ voices, needs, challenges, and desires are at the heart of the design process. These co-design partnerships not only give parents the opportunity to learn more about the fast-changing media landscape that directly impacts their children and family life, but also empower them to help shape this landscape for the better. These workshops also offer children valuable opportunities to meet designers from leading media companies, and to design and build prototypes of tools that may one day be in the hands of millions of other children.
Named after Sesame Street’s visionary co-founder, the Joan Ganz Cooney Center is an independent research and innovation lab within Sesame Workshop dedicated to shaping a positive digital future for children. The Center conducts cutting-edge research on emerging technologies, partners with industry leaders, academics, and educators to translate insights into action, and works closely with policymakers and investors to drive meaningful conversations and decisions. By actively involving children and young people in co-designing the tools that they use, the Center ensures that innovations enhance both learning and well-being—ultimately empowering children to thrive in the digital world.
These programs are funded by Google.org and are completely free for families to participate. We are accepting a limited number of families to participate. Families with children ages 3-8 years old are invited to apply.
Participants will receive a $75 gift card for your participation in all three sessions.
