Calling on Parents to Share Their Thoughts on Kids' Digital Play Platforms!
The GIANT Room and Joan Ganz Cooney Center calls on parents to share their thoughts on kids’ digital play platforms!
The GIANT Room, an innovation hub for children and their families, is excited to announce they will be partnering with Joan Ganz Cooney Center from Sesame Workshop and a large tech/media company thinking about building a digital play platform for younger kids. We want to hear parent opinions in the form of an online focus group via Zoom, followed by an in-person co-design session in NYC, and ending in one more online focus group. Participation is required for all three sessions. Parents with kids ages 6-9 are invited to apply.
Participants will receive a $200 incentive for their participation in all three sessions.
Participation entails joining two online focus groups and one free workshop focused on co-designing and learning parents’ thoughts on various gaming platforms. Participating parents will be required to join all three sessions. The first online focus group will be scheduled on July 29th from 7:30 to 8:45pm and the second will be held in late August but the date is still to be determined. The in-person co-design session will be held on August 5th from 5:30 to 7:15pm in-person at Sesame Workshop in New York City. When completing the application, applicants will be asked which times work best for them for all three sessions.
The GIANT Room believes the most engaging and effective learning experiences are the ones that are designed with families’ point of view in mind, and even better, those that are designed with children involved in the design process. These co-design partnerships not only provide opportunities for children to meet and build prototypes with real designers from leading media companies, but also make it possible to create learning applications that millions of families around the world can use as an effective learning resource.
Named after Sesame Street’s visionary co-founder, the Joan Ganz Cooney Center is an independent research and innovation lab within Sesame Workshop dedicated to shaping a positive digital future for children. The Center conducts cutting-edge research on emerging technologies, partners with industry leaders, academics, and educators to translate insights into action, and works closely with policymakers and investors to drive meaningful conversations and decisions. By actively involving children and young people in co-designing the tools that they use, the Center ensures that innovations enhance both learning and well-being—ultimately empowering children to thrive in the digital world.
These programs are completely free for parents to participate. We are accepting a limited number of families to participate. Families with children ages 6 to 9 years old are invited to apply.
Participants will receive a $200 incentive for their participation in all three sessions.
Sesame Workshop is located at 1900 Broadway in New York, NY, 10023.
