The GIANT Room has partnered with the Joan Ganz Cooney Center at Sesame Workshop and Cali’s Books to co-design the next version of the Infinibook.
The GIANT Room, an innovation hub for children and their families, is honored to announce a partnership with Cali’s Books to co-design its Infinibooks. This project is in collaboration with the Joan Ganz Cooney Center at Sesame Workshop and is funded by the Walton Family Foundation. Children ages 5 and 6 are invited to join us for three free sessions of playtesting and co-designing interactive activities for the Infinibook product. These free, in-person, two-hour workshops will take place at a school on the Upper West Side of New York City.
During the sessions, participants will design interactive activities and features that encourage dialogic reading. Participants will have the opportunity to meet Cali’s designers and collaborate on creating new features and activities that make reading more engaging and enriching.
The GIANT Room believes that the most engaging and effective learning experiences are those designed with children’s points of view in mind, and even more so, those created with children involved in the design process. These co-design partnerships not only provide opportunities for children to meet and build prototypes with real designers from publishing companies, but also make it possible to create reading resources that millions of families around the world can enjoy and connect with.
Cali’s Books is a women-led publishing house founded by Carinne Meyrignac (Cali), a French-Caribbean mom who started the company in her garage to bring musical, interactive, and educational books to the English-speaking world. Inspired by her own children and French interactive, sound-button books, the company grew from a one-woman show into a globally distributed, woman-operated business. They design, manufacture, and sell interactive books created with love to inspire and cultivate a passion for books and music. The music and sounds in their books engage children in a way that regular books cannot.
Named for the co-founder and visionary behind Sesame Street, the Joan Ganz Cooney Center is an independent research and innovation lab within Sesame Workshop that advances positive futures for kids in the digital world. They conduct research on emerging technologies and collaborate with technologists, digital media producers, and educators to put this research into action to support children’s learning and well-being. Joan Ganz Cooney Center also works directly with policy makers and investors to drive national conversations and decisions that help children thrive within the digital world.
This program is completely FREE for children to participate. We are accepting a limited number of families to participate. Families with children who are 5 or 6 years old are invited to apply. Bilingual and/or multilingual language speakers are highly encouraged to apply.
