Standing Up to Racism

GIANT kids build the world they want to live in - and racism does not have any place in that world. We emphasize the importance of helping kids become capable, aware, and equipped to be active designers of the future. We know developing empathy, compassion, and a sense of justice at an early age helps kids grow into adults who want to help make the world a better place.

We are deeply saddened and troubled by the injustices and prejudices that Black Americans continue to face in this country. Given the recent protesting sparked by the loss of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor among countless others who’ve perished before we all need to do our part to educate and act to make changes we want to see in the world.

As educators and as parents, it is essential to clear up misinformation, share accurate information, engage in conversation with children about racism, listen, learn, and take action. This is why we’re sharing a list of resources for talking to children and educating ourselves about race, racism, and justice, and to remind you to be brave as you have these essential conversations.

We know this is just a small step in a much larger fight but we are committed to continue to educate ourselves and others to speak up, resist systemic racism and help raise anti-racist children.
