GIANT Kids Co-Design a Social Networking App That Supports Their Digital Citizenship

The GIANT Room is committed to including children at the design table. To explore how children can influence the design of an actual product, we recently partnered with the Joan Ganz Cooney Center’s Sandbox Initiative and conducted a co-design journey of Mrs Wordsmith's Planet Agora, a social networking app designed for children aged 8 to 13. This app underwent testing and development by a group of 30 GIANT kids over the course of two product development cycles.

Read about the process and the findings here, in “How Would Kids Design a Social Networking App That Supports Their Digital Citizenship?” by Azi Jamalian.

In this article, published on Joan Ganz Cooney Center’s blog, The GIANT Room’s founder, Dr. Azi Jamalian, describes best practices to bring in kids’ voices in the design process of products for kids. In addition, she outlines some of our key findings from our co-design sessions with the the Planet Agora team.
